now in my eighth year of multiple weekly classes totaling over 1000 at studio barre, i can speak with some authority about this fabulous workout and the wonderful people i have met here. the standard one hour workout has changed my body, improved my bone health, and greatly helped relieve stress! shannon and her team are amazing instructors and inspiring women with whom to interact. they have amassed a clientele of fun, intelligent women (of all ages) who make a very hard workout lively and invigorating. in 60 minutes, every muscle in your body is exercised to near exhaustion utilizing both a ballet barre, floor mats and weights, mostly emphasizing core muscles.
i am in my late sixties and i am stronger and in better shape than when i was in my thirties. my husband, a physician, is annoyingly complimentary. these classes are filled with women with different goals in a totally non-judgemental environment. the instructors are highly skilled at leading the classes in unique moves to great and continually updated music. studio barre has been one of my best experiences ever and i hope to continue for years to come. a.m.

It is not an exaggeration to say that Studio Barre has changed my life. In fact, it’s probably one of the top 5 most awesome things I have ever done. When I first came to Studio Barre 1.5 years ago, I had a 6 month old and 2.5 year old and I was drowning in life. I didn’t know if and when I would ever find myself again or would ever even have time for myself again – I was in total survival mode. A friend told me about Studio Barre and I decided to try it, despite not exercising for 2 years and not being able to motivate to exercise. My first class I showed up in Costco baggy workout pants, an industrial ugly nursing bra and white athletic socks, terrified I might die but I bought a 3 pack to force myself to go 3 times. After the first class (where I felt like throwing up about 15 times), I knew I had found something special. The teachers (Brooke and Tish especially back in the day!) were so kind and helpful – never judging my bad baggy clothes and sleep-deprived appearance.
Within a few weeks I had signed up for the monthly package and treated myself to some actual leggings to replace my baggy pants. Never in my entire life would I have ever worn tight leggings and here I was, wearing them and actually feeling good in them. In fact, I felt GREAT in them. I started to make friends with the women I took class with and I looked forward to seeing them and catching up. It was honestly like I had found an inner me and a confidence I didn’t know existed or at least I hadn’t seen since well before kids. I craved going to barre – for the kick butt workout that was shrinking my historically bigger thighs, for the challenge of being able to up my weights or to get all the way through fetal without breaking (still usually near impossible!!).
And for the comradery of amazing women who I never would have met outside of the studio. After 10 months of relentless tucking, I became a Centurian. I honestly was so damn proud of myself – it had been a long time since I achieve something just for me. It sounds cheesy but I’ve truly found my inner (and outer!) beauty by committing to Studio Barre. It’s been such a gift to have this in my life – it honestly helped bring me back to life and has given me so much over these past 1.5 years. Thank you Studio Barre (and Brooke!!) – I look forward to many, many more classes and many more pairs of leggings.

studio barre has been such a huge part of my fitness journey! when i started in october it was really hard and it’s still challenging, but anyone can do it. the class never gets easier; it just gets more doable. taking classes at studio barre has really changed my life, it helped get me closer to the body and fitness goals i have set for myself. in october 2015, i was a size 4 but by february 2016 i had worked my way to a size 0. my body actually has definition and lean muscle, which are both things i wasn’t sure i would see again after my son was born. these classes literally tone every part of the body and work muscles i never knew existed! i am so proud to be a client at studio barre, its a workout that my body actually craves and i look forward to doing!

wow.. where do i begin? let’s start with the day i decided to walk through the front door at studio barre on may 31st 2013, that one change in my regular routine has now forever changed my life!
i was so done with my jogging routine and my workout dvd’s, i needed a change physically and mentally. and decided to give studio barre a try, plus how hard could it be? well holy hell it’s hard. that first class with suzanne made me almost get to the point of tears but in a good way. i thought i was physically fit until i took my first class and realized studio barre was like nothing i have ever done before and i loved it!!! i walked out of class with my legs shaking, my heart pounding, soaked clothes but a smile on my face. i could barley lift my legs to get into my car but i got home and walked slowly inside and told greg.. i found my new thing and i get a week free to make sure i want to continue. well, as we all know you feel good till you wake that next morning and every single part of my body hurts bad! every movement, every sneeze everything.
i gave myself the weekend to stretch and prepare for class on monday at 6am and tuesday, wednesday, thursday and friday! officially addicted to the studio barre workout! being a mom to 3 young boys i didn’t have much adult time until now… i have met so many wonderful people and have developed awesome friendships to boot. my body has completely changed, i feel super strong and i am proud to walk in my shoes!
people say i am crazy that i go to sb 5 to 6 times a week! i say your crazy not to. on my day or two off my body feels it and i can’t wait to get back. people jog everyday, lift weights every day, surf everyday….. i studio barre almost every day. i love my barre tenders… all of you who have cheered me on and helped me get into that correct painful but awesome position are all wonderful women and i am honored to call you my friends.
so, i have done this workout now for approx. 2 years 9 months and at 2 years 10 months i will be celebrating my 500th class! studio barre is my addiction and what a healthy wonderful addiction to have! i have so much more confidence, i love you studio barre

i have an 18 year old son in a wheelchair, and with all the lifting and carrying i do, i needed an exercise program that would strengthen and protect my back. studio barre suits my needs perfectly!...
the exercises are well-planned, the instructors are consistently positive and knowledgeable, and the class schedule allows me flexibility that fits with my other commitments. i am always made to feel welcome there, by both the staff and the other patrons. thanks studio barre!
